Control Engineering Technician Grade A (Electrical/Mechanical)

Requirements:

  • An appropriate National Diploma in Engineering (Electrical/Mechanical) or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • At least 6 years of appropriate experience after obtaining the qualification, such as a National Diploma in Engineering. This should include experience in designing, specifying, and maintaining hospital infrastructure, with a focus on plant, reticulation, and engineering systems. Experience in compiling specifications and procurement documentation is essential.
  • Registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineering Technician.
  • A valid driver’s licence (Code B/EB).
  • Willingness to work overtime, travel throughout the Western Cape province at short notice, and assist in other institutions when needed. Must be physically fit to inspect buildings and engineering infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile specifications and tender documentation within set time limits.
  • Manage projects from start to completion.
  • Liaise with clients regarding information and project progress.
  • Ensure continuity of service schedules, prioritize work, and consider operational needs.
  • Make sure engineering infrastructure, plant, and equipment comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, built environment regulations, and healthcare prescripts.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of compiling specifications and tender documentation.
  • Skills in contracts and quality management.
  • Understanding of risk analysis, mitigation strategies, and prioritization.
  • Familiarity with OHSA and regulations for electrical installations.
  • Experience with NEC contracts, including Short-Term Service and Framework Agreements.
  • Computer literate in MS Word, AutoCAD, and Excel.
  • Knowledge and experience in computer-aided design of engineering infrastructure in healthcare environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good verbal and written communication.

Salary:

Grade A: R 551 493 per annum. A portion of the package can be structured according to the individual’s personal needs.
