Requirements

  • A valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout the Western Cape.
  • Appropriate three-year National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Administration, Finance, Business, or Health field (or equivalent).
  • Extensive knowledge of Health Acts and Regulations (National and Provincial), especially those related to licensing of health services.
  • Extensive knowledge of Policies and Guidelines (National and Provincial) related to licensing of health services.

Duties

  • Effectively implement applicable health and related legislation, and decision-making procedures. Participate on behalf of the Ministry in processes for legislative changes related to licensing. Represent the Ministry in consultative processes for legal matters against the MEC in relation to licensing. Follow guidance from P.N. 187, P.N. 180, and Guidelines for Licensing Community Mental Health Facilities.
  • Provide professional administrative support to the MEC on licensing matters. Receive, sort, file, and redirect licensing-related documents for the MEC. Monitor progress of applications received by the MEC.
  • Work with administrative staff in the MEC’s office to provide short- and long-term professional support on licensing. Collaborate on all relevant functions with the administrative staff.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
  • Strong writing and grammatical skills, including editing and drafting documents.
  • Ability to work independently with confidence.
  • Good team-building skills. Client- and results-oriented.
  • Ability to use computer programs like Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email efficiently.
