Main Purpose of the Job

To respond to emergency calls and provide basic medical care within the scope of practice.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Ensure readiness for emergency calls at all times.
  • Provide patient care according to the defined scope of practice.
  • Promote and maintain a positive public image for ER24 through marketing efforts.

Required Education

  • Essential: Basic Ambulance Assistant Certificate
  • Desired: Completion of training on Clinical Practice Guidelines from the Health Professions Council of South Africa is advantageous. If not yet completed, it must be done during the probation period if hired.

Required Experience

  • Essential Minimum: 6 months to 1 year of road Basic Life Support (BLS) experience
  • Desired: 2 years of road BLS experience

Required Job Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of local facilities, travel routes, and demographics.
  • Understanding of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice.
  • Application of best practices in emergency care.
  • Familiarity with the EMS environment.
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
  • Skills in completing Patient Report Forms.
