Requirements:
- Matric certificate and a three-year National Diploma or Degree from a SAQA-accredited institution in Public Relations, Communication Science, Communication Management, or Journalism.
- At least three years’ experience as a Communication Officer.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal relations, project planning, ability to prepare reports.
- Good verbal and written communication skills. Computer literate. Solid understanding and knowledge of communication practices.
- Valid driver’s license.
Duties:
- Plan, implement, and oversee internal and external communication. Develop and apply communication strategies. Coordinate outreach and communication activities.
- Manage hospital resources effectively for public education, public relations, media services, and stakeholder relations.
- Drive and coordinate the creation of positive news content for various media platforms, including corporate publications, media statements, electronic media, social media, visuals, audio, and live interviews.
- Handle responses to media inquiries and legislative requests. Provide communication support for departmental events and activities. Ensure the hospital has sufficient communication materials and publications.
- Publish quarterly internal newsletters and coordinate annual open day events.
- Manage and develop content for the hospital’s social media accounts. Cover events with photos. Implement social media strategies in line with the departmental corporate identity manual.
- Serve as secretary and liaison for the hospital board.
