Job Description:
As the Unit Manager of our Mental Health Facility at Isipingo Hospital, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality mental health care to patients. You will manage daily operations to ensure services are efficient and effective.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the Mental Health Facility, including patient care coordination, staff scheduling, and compliance with policies and procedures.
- Provide leadership and support to the multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff.
- Hold regular staff meetings and performance reviews to maintain high-quality care and identify improvements.
- Work with other departments and healthcare providers for a holistic approach to patient care.
- Monitor and manage the unit’s budget and resources for cost-effective operations.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality and privacy.
- Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements, including mental health laws.
- Help develop and implement policies to improve patient care and safety.
- Support patients and families, and address concerns promptly and professionally.
- Stay updated on mental health developments and apply new techniques as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing for registration as a Psychiatric Nurse.
- At least 5 years in mental health care, with 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Registered with the South African Nursing Council.
- Strong knowledge of mental health laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
