Job Summary

This role acts as the national representative for glu’s Internal Distribution. You will lead and motivate Business Consultants, turn the channel’s distribution strategy into action, and drive growth by introducing and expanding glu-focused agents. You will also help create strategies, budgets, and business plans to align with the channel’s goals.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • BCom degree in Business Management or a related field.
  • Certified Financial Planner designation (essential).

Experience:

  • At least 10 years in a sales and distribution role within Financial Services or a similar field (preferred).
  • 5 years in Investment product sales.
  • 5 years in Insurance product sales.
  • Proven track record in people management and leading sales and distribution teams of professionals.
  • Experience leading a regional team or a large team managing individual client accounts.
  • Proven track record in achieving sales revenue targets.
  • Experience leading and managing culturally diverse teams.
  • Experience building networks or collaborative relationships with professional associations and industry bodies to support sales targets.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Understanding of the South African Insurance client market dynamics.
  • Knowledge of best practices in financial planning and advisory services.
  • Understanding of sales activity and productivity management processes.
  • Understanding of financial drivers in a sales and distribution model, including sales capacity, product margin, and acquisition cost, and their impact on new business value.
  • Exceptional sales skills.
  • Appreciation for consistent advice and service delivery to reduce reputational and compliance risks.
  • Ability to develop and implement new sales and distribution methods.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct, monitor, and lead the development of national business sales strategies, business plans, and budgets in line with glu’s Internal Distribution strategy, targets, and growth objectives.
  • Develop, monitor, and lead sales and distribution performance against set targets, aligned with PPS Group and Internal Distribution strategies.
  • Design, implement, and monitor corrective actions to address issues in achieving regional sales targets and revenues.
  • Propose new initiatives, plans, and programs to improve distribution effectiveness.
  • Deliver annual sales profitability, targets, and volume through appropriate sales and distribution channels.
  • Stay informed on market trends and monitor competitor activities that affect PPS sales targets.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key business contacts to promote glu’s offerings and identify new leads.
  • Actively engage with and build strong relationships with key business partners.
  • Ensure effective resourcing of teams to align capability with sales performance.
  • Lead, motivate, and drive team performance.
  • Effectively manage risks and governance requirements.
