uPhongolo Local Municipality

The uPhongolo Local Municipality is a Category B municipality in the north of the Zululand District in KwaZulu-Natal. It is next to the Swaziland Border and the Mpumalanga Province Border. It is one of five municipalities in the district. Main access is via the N2 from Gauteng in the north-west and Durban in the south.

Requirements:

  • Matric certificate, BCom in Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Business Management or SCM, or National Diploma in Commerce, Accounting, Economics, Business Management or SCM. Must be computer literate.
  • No experience required. The intern will work closely under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer. Preference will be given to candidates from the local community.

  • Good communication skills.
  • Writing skills.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Implementing GRAP and Budget Reforms.
  • Assisting in preparing VAT reconciliations.
  • Monthly and Annual Financial Statements.
  • Financial and Performance Reporting.
  • Expenditure and Revenue Management.
  • Supply Chain/Procurement Management.
  • Developing and implementing Financial/Budget policies.
  • Performing any other duties as directed by the relevant supervisor.
