It was established by the Property Valuation Act No. 17 of 2014, effective from 1 August 2015. The Office is listed as a Schedule 3(A) public entity under the Public Finance Management Act.

Duties

  • Ensure servers and network resources are always available. Maintain a ticket system to resolve server issues quickly. Provide reports on server problems and performance to the Technology Services Manager and other relevant teams. Work with the Technology Services Manager to align server management with the organization’s ICT strategy and goals. Optimize server performance for efficient use of resources. Protect data by setting up backup plans and disaster recovery strategies. Implement security measures to safeguard information from unauthorized access and breaches.

Requirements

  • Formal Qualifications: A 3-year National Diploma (NQF 6) or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Networking, System Design, or a related IT field. Helpful additional qualifications include: Cisco Certified Network Associate Data Center (CCNA Data Center), Cisco Certified Network Professional Data Center (CCNP Data Center), Server Virtualization with Hyper-V, CompTIA A+, N+, S+, CISSP or similar, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) [required], SQL 2012/2014 or later and SQL 2016, ITIL or similar certifications, Dell Server Specialist/Associate. Advantageous: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect.
  • Job-Related Experience: At least 5 years in server and IT-related work. Knowledge of technology standards and best practices. Broad understanding of IT fields.
  • Job-Related Knowledge: Cloud-based server management. Understanding of database and architecture design and implementation. Technical Competencies: Proficiency in IIS (Internet Information Services) for web server configurations. Experience in email security and administration. Knowledge of Microsoft Service Manager for IT service management. Familiarity with SQL Server and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). Experience with SharePoint 2010 or later for collaboration and document management. Proficiency in PowerShell for scripting and automation.
