Accountant: Financial Strategy

Purpose Statement

To collect and process accurate financial data, providing it to management accountants to support financial performance analysis for the business.

Qualifications

  • National Diploma or Diploma in Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, or a related field
  • NQF Level 6

Experience

  • 3 years of relevant work experience in Management Accounting
  • Proven track record in processing journals and reviewing income and expenditure general ledger accounts

Duties and Responsibilities

Functional Management

  • Analyze and provide weekly sales information to management accountants.
  • Gather and prepare data reports for sales trend analyses.
  • Analyze, investigate, and reallocate income and expense account transactions as needed.
  • Gather data for preparing financial reports.
  • Draw reports from the BI Tool for financial statements and statutory reports.
  • Perform variance analysis on expenses.
  • Prepare and process journals for reallocations.
  • Manage the Procure-To-Pay process related to Financial Strategy, in consultation with the Head.
  • Analyze open expense requisitions and orders daily.
  • Follow up with business administrators on aging open orders and ensure they are closed.
  • Provide feedback to process owners on incorrect allocations.
  • Perform ad-hoc Financial Strategy activities as requested by management.
  • Compile or provide input to key operational and strategic reports.
  • Gather data for compiling budgets and forecasts.
  • Perform trend and variance analyses on key revenue and expenditure items.
  • Prepare final budget templates.
  • Allocate CAPEX motivations from the business to relevant Financial Strategy team members.
  • Provide feedback to the business on CAPEX process progress.
  • Follow up on the acquisition of capital assets from the Supply Chain Management team.
  • Review and resolve CAPEX motivations and queries valued at R250,000 or less.
  • Gather data to monitor returns from acquired capital assets.

Risk and Compliance Management

  • Assist in identifying and following fraud controls, risk prevention principles, governance, and compliance processes.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing evidence.
  • Maintain quality risk management standards in line with ISO and regulatory requirements.
  • Enforce Service Level Agreements to minimize risks and ensure business continuity.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures.

Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders for better collaboration and reputation management.
  • Represent the organization in committees and task teams when required.
  • Attend meetings and present information to stakeholders as needed.
  • Ensure clear communication with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Resolve queries and problems within your scope and agreed time frames.
  • Follow up on unresolved queries or complaints.
  • Liaise with stakeholders for follow-up information as required.
