Minimum Requirements

  • Grade 12 Certificate
  • Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Town or Regional Planning
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in Town or Regional Planning
  • Valid Driver’s Licence

Key Performance Areas

  • Assist in developing and reviewing the Spatial Development Framework, Local Area Plans, Precinct Plans, Land Use Scheme, and By-Laws
  • Administer and assess development applications (such as township establishment, rezoning, subdivision, consolidation, consent use, and departure) and make recommendations to the Authorised Official and Municipal Planning Tribunal
  • Develop and maintain Land Use Management systems
  • Operate and update the municipal GIS, and ensure all stakeholders receive updated spatial information
  • Conduct research on town planning matters to improve operational efficiencies in the department
  • Prepare proposals including drawings, designs, and cost estimates
  • Provide information to municipal departments, real estate developers, property owners, and others about land use applications, ordinances, regulations, and related planning issues
  • Ensure effective and efficient Land Administration Systems (leasing, acquisition, and disposal)
