Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate.
  • NQF Level 7 qualification in Architecture or an equivalent recognized by SAQA.
  • No previous experience needed.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Architectural Professions (SACAP) as a Candidate Architect.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Computer literate.

Duties

  • Help prepare the Procurement Strategy and Infrastructure Programme Management Plan (IPMP), and update the plan as needed.
  • Assist in preparing the infrastructure budget and final project list.
  • Help create packages or individual project briefs. Present these to the Implementing Agent (IA) as the Project Execution Plan version 1, including inputs from the Directorate of Infrastructure Planning.
  • Monitor the implementation of programmes and projects by the Implementing Agent (IA). Ensure they follow the Service Delivery Agreement.
  • Manage project implementation for projects not assigned to an Implementing Agent (IA).
  • Review Variation Orders based on contract management practices and financial impacts, working with professionals in the Directorate of Infrastructure Planning.
  • Develop Project Stage reports and designs according to key decision points in the Provincial Infrastructure Delivery Framework.
  • Coordinate and take part in project commissioning, including site visits.
  • Review and create Maintenance Plans and budgets after projects are completed.
  • Review infrastructure projects and programmes to ensure they meet built environment norms, standards, and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to improving best practices, standardized processes, procedures, software, and tools.
  • Update the Department’s Infrastructure policies based on research, new technology, and changes in the institutional environment.
