Requirements

  • An appropriate Trade Test Certificate.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience after qualification as an Artisan or Artisan Foreman. (Proof of recognized experience will be required for shortlisted candidates.)
  • Computer literacy.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Competencies: Knowledge of the National Building Regulations and Building Standards Act (No. 103 of 1977), related regulations and municipal rules, Promotion of Access to Information Act (2000), Promotion of Administrative Justice Act (2000), Government Immovable Asset Management Act (2007), and Occupational Health and Safety Act (1993) and its regulations.
  • Skills: Planning and organizing, verbal and written communication, and computer literacy.

Duties

  • Manage technical personnel.
  • Lead division meetings.
  • Handle job assessments for the division.
  • Manage material needs for the division.
  • Ensure availability of tools and materials for the division.
  • Manage client interactions and relationships.
  • Schedule work effectively.
  • Oversee the overall productivity of the division.
  • Develop maintenance schedules.
  • Enforce compliance with maintenance schedules and records.
  • Conduct research and literature studies.
  • Apply research findings in the work environment.
  • Sign off on performance based on approved job descriptions, strategic and annual performance plans.
  • Manage human resources and maintain discipline.
  • Provide equipment needed by personnel to achieve their outputs.
  • Facilitate skills transfer between personnel, technical assistants, and consultants.
  • Plan and allocate work responsibilities to control performance, including quality assurance.
  • Manage staff performance and development.
