Linen Assistant (Linen Room)

Requirements:

  • ABET Level 02 or equivalent qualification. No experience required. Advantages include: Grade 12 with 0-2 years’ experience in laundry services, good communication and writing skills, customer relations skills, problem-solving abilities, ability to work shifts, being a team player, and working independently.
  • Knowledge of laundry working procedures. Skills: Basic numeracy and literacy, good communication, sound human relations, ability to perform routine tasks, and basic interpersonal relationships.

Duties:

  • Receive clean linen from the main laundry and sort it.
  • Distribute clean linen to wards and clinics.
  • Collect soiled linen from wards.
  • Sort soiled, infectious, contaminated, and foul linen into color-coded bags.
  • Sluice heavily soiled linen.
  • Pack and mark soiled linen into bags.
  • Clean storerooms, linen room, trolleys, and shelves.
  • Ensure staff wear PPE and uniforms at all times.
  • Follow instructions from the supervisor.
