The role:

  • This learnership aims to help you develop skills and qualify as an artisan in trades like Electrician, Fitter, Instrument Mechanician, or Rigger.

Available disciplines:

  • Electrician
  • Fitter
  • Instrument Mechanician
  • Rigger

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics (not literacy) and Science, achieving at least an E symbol. You also need two N2 trade-related subjects, or a minimum N2 with four relevant trade-related subjects.
  • Trade theory subjects for the chosen trade (minimum E symbol or 40%; F symbols are not accepted):
    • Electrician: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Electrical Trade Theory
    • Fitter: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Fitting & Machining Theory
    • Instrument Mechanician: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Industrial Electronics, Instrument Trade Theory
    • Rigger: Mathematics, Engineering Science, Engineering Drawing, Mechanotechnology
  • You must be willing to take a psychometric assessment.
  • Be prepared to work shifts, standby, and respond to call-outs as needed.
  • Handle pressure well, think innovatively, and work independently.
  • Identify faults without supervision.
  • Have or be able to get a valid Certificate of Fitness.

Advantageous:

  • Experience in the mining sector
  • A valid K53 driver’s license
