Professional Officer: Routine Road Maintenance (Bredasdorp) Jobs

Salary: T-14 = R 533 124 – R 692 004 per annum, plus normal fringe benefits of a Local Authority. An Essential Motor Scheme applies to this position.

Requirements:

• A relevant B. Tech Degree in Civil Engineering and registration as a Professional Engineering Technologist with ECSA.
• Computer literacy in MS Office.
• Valid Code B Driver’s license.
• 3-5 years of post-qualification experience in routine road maintenance and construction.

Other Requirements:

• The incumbent must perform well-defined activities.
• Applies a known body of knowledge.
• Works independently and seeks advice when needed. Supervises and coordinates teams.
• Applicants must be literate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Coordinate and control gravel and surfaced road routine maintenance operations in the Bredasdorp Overberg area.
• Monitor and evaluate progress on maintenance activities.
• Ensure quality control during re-gravelling and concrete works.
• Ensure technical specifications and standards are maintained throughout projects.
• Ensure tasks are completed within projected timeframes.
• Prepare reports and handle general administrative tasks related to the work.
• Manage day-to-day logistical arrangements.
• Enforce discipline and ensure Health and Safety standards are met.
• Evaluate subordinates.
• Build networks and capacity with other departments and public entities.
