Assistant General Manager

Your Purpose

  • To inspire people to live active lives.
  • This role handles all aspects of the club’s operational and financial performance, including income statements, sales retention, brand standards, and people management.

Your Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management

  • Ensure the club runs as a profitable business.
  • Control income and expenses to meet the budget.
  • Follow company standards to reduce risks, such as salary requirements and audit reports.

Facility Management

  • Manage operations, health, and safety. Ensure procedures meet standards.

People Management

  • Handle recruitment, development, and training of staff.
  • Communicate information effectively to all club staff.
  • Implement and enforce required policies, procedures, and systems.

Customer Experience

  • Build and maintain a strong focus on members.
  • Resolve member queries and complaints according to company policy.
  • Deliver excellent customer service that meets brand standards.

Competitor Analysis

  • Know how to address risks from competitors.
  • Regularly analyze the competitor landscape.
  • Inform senior management of any potential risks.

Minimum Requirements

We need you to have:

  • Matric or equivalent NQF level 4.
  • Previous experience as a Club General Manager with a strong track record and leadership skills, or as the second-in-command to a Club General Manager.
  • Completion of the internal Learn to Fly program.
  • Strong financial skills and good business sense.
  • A business owner mindset.
  • Solid knowledge of the market and competitors.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Good customer relations and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of HR procedures, including recruitment, development, relations, performance management, and coaching.
  • Proven success in a changing and high-pressure environment.
