Maintenance Assistant Jobs

• The Maintenance Assistant helps the Maintenance Department with everyday tasks. You will support skilled technicians, keep machinery and equipment running smoothly, and ensure a safe workplace. This role helps reduce downtime and maintains a tidy environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Help artisans and technicians repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Do simple maintenance like cleaning parts, lubricating machines, and replacing filters or worn items.
• Assist during breakdowns by getting tools ready, finding parts, and speeding up fixes.
• Watch for unusual machine behavior or safety risks and report them.
• Inspect the facility regularly to spot wear or possible problems.
• Keep tools and equipment in good shape.
• Organize the maintenance workshop and storage areas.
• Log maintenance work in records or checklists as needed.
• Support installing or removing equipment when required.
• Follow all safety rules and wear protective gear at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• Matric / Grade 12 or equivalent (required).
• Technical certificate or N2 in mechanical or electrical fields (preferred).
• 1–2 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• Basic knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical systems and tools.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
• Physically fit for manual work.
• Basic understanding of maintenance records and work permits.

Working Conditions

• Shifts, overtime, or standby duty may be needed.
• Work in areas with noise, dust, and operating machines.
• Follow all health and safety rules.
