Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife (Ezemvelo) manages nature conservation in KwaZulu-Natal Province under the KwaZulu-Natal Nature Conservation Management Act (Act No. 9 of 1997). This includes protected areas and promoting ecotourism facilities within them.

Purpose of the Job:

  • To develop and manage an integrated IT security infrastructure and systems strategy that supports Ezemvelo’s overall goals.

Qualifications:

  • CISSP certification is an advantage.
  • National Diploma in Information Technology is required.
  • Degree in Information Technology is an advantage.
  • Honours Degree in Information Technology is preferred.
  • Experience in Cyber Security and IT project management is an advantage.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years in an IT environment.
  • At least 5 years managing and leading an IT department.

  • Knowledge of information systems and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of IT change management frameworks, such as ITIL.
  • Knowledge of IT project management methods.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Develop and monitor IT security management standard operating procedures.
  • Develop and implement a cyber security strategy.
  • Develop and revise IT policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and control the implementation of IT security strategy.
  • Manage the implementation of system changes.
  • Ensure IT staff and users comply with IT change management processes.
  • Manage delivery against performance contract action plans.
  • Clarify roles and responsibilities for team members.
  • Complete skills and competency assessments for all team members.
  • Update job profiles for team positions.
  • Hold meetings to plan, assign, and manage work.
  • Sign performance contracts with full-time staff.
  • Monitor and manage absenteeism.
  • Coach and mentor team members and potential successors.
  • Reduce audit findings.
  • Prepare risk management reports.
  • Conduct IT security trend analysis.
  • Develop and maintain the IT security strategy document.
  • Keep IT policies and procedures current and effective.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws.
