Mechanic General Shovels Global Grade 08 – Mogalakwena

Key Responsibilities

  • Quickly and efficiently diagnose machine systems and perform repairs, fault finding, and maintenance on earthmoving equipment in Mogalakwena.
  • Compile accurate customer machine analysis and reports, including Machine Inspection Reports (MIRs) and Technical Analysis Reports (TAs).
  • Maintain a professional image when representing Barloworld Equipment.
  • Ensure safe work practices by following procedures and conducting risk assessments.
  • Control contamination to prevent damage to equipment.
  • Manage your own administration, including labour booking, service reports, part returns, and expenses.
  • Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of your work are consistent and accurate.
  • Execute hardware and software product updates.
  • Demonstrate strong electrical background knowledge.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies

  • Grade 12/Matric or equivalent qualification.
  • Qualified in a relevant trade, such as Diesel Mechanic or Earthmoving Equipment Mechanic.
  • Machine-specific technical and product knowledge of Cat equipment, hydraulic shovels (HMS), electronic systems, and engines. Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of engines, electronics, ET systems, troubleshooting, data links, networking, GNSS, and databases.
  • Basic technical report writing skills.
  • Ability to perform standby duties.
  • Computer literacy, including knowledge of ET, SIMSi, DSN, CPI, TSC, and related systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s licence – Code B and PDP.
  • Understanding of supplier warranty systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to address machine connectivity issues.
