Requirements

  • An undergraduate qualification (NQF level 6) recognized by SAQA in Occupational Therapy. A Post Graduate Diploma in Vocational Rehabilitation is an advantage.
  • Four years of functional experience in rehabilitation after community service, including two years at a supervisory level.

  • Patient care, rehabilitation therapy management, related laws and regulations, medical rehabilitation policies, Public Service Act, Department of Employment and Labour and Compensation Fund strategies, directorate goals, Compensation Fund processes, Public Service rules, customer service principles (Batho Pele), equality laws, PFMA and Treasury regulations, access to information act, Constitution, Public Service Regulations, Skills Development Act, Employment Equity Act, Labour Relations Act, Health Act, Allied Health Professions Act, rehabilitation framework, Integrated National Disability Strategy, COID Act, National Health Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act.

Duties

  • Manage programs for early return to work and community reintegration.
  • Help develop and review rehabilitation strategies, policies, and protocols based on national laws. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Oversee the Disability Management Section.
