PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Assistant Boutique Manager works closely with the Boutique Store Manager to lead a motivated team dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for our clients. With strong business sense, the Assistant Boutique Manager supports the Manager in all retail activities that enhance the brand’s image and market leadership. They collaborate with field and head office teams. In the Manager’s absence, they step in to maintain operational standards and continue coaching the team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leader: The Store Assistant Manager guides the team to achieve results and develop individual skills.

  • Works with the Boutique Manager to create an environment of ethics, integrity, and diversity that encourages positive teamwork.
  • Partners with the Boutique Manager to identify, address, and manage employee issues according to company policies, and provides feedback on performance.
  • Facilitates regular team and individual communications to ensure everyone has the necessary information.
  • Shares the brand’s vision and boutique challenges, empowers the team, and holds them accountable.
  • Handles boutique administration.
  • Implements standard operating procedures through on-the-job training.

Administration/Reporting

  • Reviews and analyzes category sales.
  • Checks monthly stock reports and takes action on any issues.
  • Updates monthly reports on sales consultant performance, new launch feedback, event feedback, analysis, and sales.
  • Provides feedback on business performance, including customers, competitors, product acceptance, distribution, and target sectors.
  • Reports on developments in the V&A Waterfront area.

Business Developer: The Store Assistant Manager shows an entrepreneurial spirit.

  • Works with the Boutique Manager to drive growth by meeting retail and CRM targets, and actively recruits, retains, and increases client return rates.
  • Develops business initiatives aligned with the brand’s vision and strategy.
  • In the Manager’s absence, manages staff schedules and daily operations to ensure proper floor coverage and client service.
  • Supports the Boutique Manager in communicating retail and stock needs to relevant parties.
  • Shares responsibility with the Manager for loss prevention, including in-store security and inventory management.
  • Understands the business environment well.
  • Works with the Manager to provide feedback and reports to influence strategies and recommendations.

Experience Creator: The Store Assistant Manager ensures consistent and memorable client experiences.

  • Leads by example on the sales floor, creating personalized client experiences using the CHANEL ritual and building lasting relationships.
  • Considers the full omni-channel journey and helps the team adapt to digital shopping trends.
  • Co-creates stories with clients, sharing the brand culture and connecting it to their personal story at the point of sale.
  • Resolves client service issues holistically so every client leaves satisfied, no matter the shopping channel.
  • Ensures the team has the tools and training for a CHANEL client experience.
  • Provides flexibility for beauty advisors to create their own experiences.
  • Maintains visual merchandising guidelines and keeps the boutique clean, tidy, and welcoming.

  • Has deep knowledge of the brand’s heritage and expertise, and shares it with clients and the team.
  • Implements all training, stays curious to learn more, and promotes a global beauty culture through self-learning.
  • Always follows uniform and grooming guidelines.

Store Operations: The Store Assistant Manager supports the Manager in delivering excellent operations.

  • Assists the Manager in all boutique operations, ensuring compliance and clear procedures. Manages daily tasks like opening/closing, security, and cleaning.
  • Stock Management: Oversees stock, tester, and sample inventory to keep levels minimal for quick turnover.
  • Supports the Manager in maintaining stock levels, planning seasonal increases, improving stock accuracy through audits, and minimizing losses.
  • Ensures proper stock handling and storage procedures.
  • Handles new line ordering and setup based on business needs.
  • Till and Cash Handling Procedures: Trains the team on company procedures and ensures they are followed. Manages returns clearly.
  • Works with the visual merchandising team to follow CHANEL boutique guidelines.
  • Ensures health and safety training and procedures are clear and followed.
