Shop Assistant (Bay West)

Job Purpose:

Maximize sales by delivering excellent customer service and creating a positive shopping experience for every customer.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Provide excellent customer service to create a memorable experience
  • Meet the unique needs of each customer and always prioritize them
  • Offer prompt and helpful service on the sales floor and over the phone
  • Follow all customer service standards
  • Understand customer needs and recommend products, prices, and warranties
  • Demonstrate and explain products to customers
  • Sell products and promote add-on sales and services
  • Ensure products are priced correctly and displayed well
  • Execute promotions on time and plan ahead
  • Maintain merchandising, layouts, and housekeeping standards
  • Prepare and run advertised sales promotions
  • Report on fast-moving and slow-selling items to the store manager
  • Assist with stock takes and counts
  • Minimize stock loss
  • Control expenses in your area
  • Boost sales across all sections
  • Protect company assets

Entry Requirements:

  • Matric certificate
  • 6 months of retail experience
  • Reliable transport to work shifts

General Responsibilities:

  • Handle any other duties assigned by senior management
  • Complete all required training
  • Keep all information confidential
  • Participate in regular appraisals and personal development reviews
  • Stay updated on standard operating procedures
  • Adopt new technologies and methods as introduced
