Senior Technician: Roads and Stormwater (1 Position)

Minimum Qualification and Experience:

  • National Diploma in Civil Engineering, with 3-5 years of experience in a similar position, especially in roads sections.
  • Management experience is an added advantage.

Competence/Skills Required:

  • Code 8 Driver’s License.
  • Computer literate, with knowledge of MS Office, internet, GIS, and related typing programs and spreadsheets.
  • Good communication skills at all levels.
  • Attention to detail and report writing skills.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Identify and define immediate and short-term objectives/plans for road and stormwater maintenance. Stay updated on technological developments in road rehabilitation and maintenance, as well as stormwater drainage regulations.
  • Prepare reports on current and future interventions (construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance) needed to meet acceptable service delivery standards, and present them to the Manager.
  • Monitor staff attendance, conduct, and output in roads and stormwater sections. Address any deviations from performance indicators through meetings, counseling, or other methods to improve and motivate personnel.
  • Conduct quarterly evaluations of staff performance through individual appraisals.
  • Keep staff informed about new developments, legislation, circulars, and policies.
  • Address workplace conflicts or conduct issues by initiating consultative processes and implementing disciplinary procedures.
