Job Description

RCL Foods is looking for a motivated and energetic Mechanic Assistant for our baking business unit. The role focuses on fleet maintenance. You will perform maintenance and preventive services according to the schedule, handle breakdowns, and respond to after-hours issues on our local delivery fleet. This position is based in Kokstad and reports to the Transport Manager.

Minimum Requirements

Education and Qualification:

  • Matric
  • Diesel Mechanic Qualification (Advantageous)

Experience and Training:

  • 2-3 years’ experience in a FMCG workshop environment
  • Experience with FAW, Fuso, Hino, and Nissan trucks (Advantageous)

Duties & Responsibilities

Fleet Maintenance

  • Keep the workshop clean and maintain housekeeping as per HSEMS requirements
  • Dispose of waste in the designated area as per HSEMS requirements
  • Follow the lead mechanic’s instructions
  • Assist the lead mechanic when required
  • Carry out duties assigned by the mechanic in an efficient and safe manner
  • Maintain proper handling of all equipment, especially mechanical and electronic gauges, to avoid failures
  • Achieve knowledge of mechanic assistant role (Technical and Safety)
  • Carry out all work activities in a safe manner
  • Follow all company procedures and controls
  • Maintain good housekeeping at the work site on a daily basis
