  • Our mine is in Limpopo Province, about 60 kilometers from Lydenburg and 40 kilometers from Burgersfort. It is a leading producer of chrome ore.

The successful candidate will report to the Chargehand or their nominee.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / Standard 10 with Maths or Maths Literacy.
  • Relevant Trade Test.
  • Code 08 (B) Driver’s License.
  • TMM Licenses “A” Dover.
  • Advantageous: N2 Certificate in Engineering Studies.

Experience (including but not limited to):

  • 2 years of trade-specific experience in a heavy industrial, mining, plant, or TMM environment.
  • Advantageous: 1 year of practical earthmoving equipment experience.

Duties (including but not limited to):

  • Perform maintenance and fix breakdowns on the production fleet. Ensure vehicles under your responsibility meet the mine’s code of practice for safe operation.
  • Keep the workshop and work areas clean. Help maintain the workshop’s daily operations.
  • Plan and organize workload, spares, tools, and resources based on maintenance schedules. Get necessary permits and safe work declarations. Complete work orders on time and accurately, then return them for approval. Do daily inspections and record results. Plan jobs to finish them quickly.
  • Carry out mini risk assessments and lock-out procedures in your work area.
  • Perform asset care tasks as needed, and provide timely updates to stakeholders. Operate and maintain mobile equipment according to codes, policies, and procedures. Follow the manufacturer’s maintenance guidelines.
  • Clean and store equipment and tools after use. Keep your personal toolbox in good condition. Inspect equipment regularly to fix issues early and prevent breakdowns or delays. Plan, order, and use parts to reduce downtime from failures. Maintain equipment proactively through scheduled services for reliability.
  • Attend to breakdowns right away to restore operations, and report them to the Chargehand, Foreman, and Control Room. Report unrepairable equipment to your supervisor.
  • Promote teamwork and clear communication among team members.
