Job Description

Start your journalism career with Media24. We have an exciting 12-month internship opportunity in Cape Town for digitally savvy journalists as part of the Media24 Graduate Programme. The internship starts in February 2026 and will be placed at YOU magazine.

  • You have a degree or diploma in journalism, languages, politics, or media studies.
  • You love stories and storytelling, no matter the format or platform.
  • You can write well and are interested in digital media.
  • You can produce engaging videos that hold attention for more than 20 seconds.
  • You are comfortable shooting videos on a smartphone.
  • You are curious about the world and the people in it.
  • You are eager to learn and grow.

Key Skills Needed:

  • Strong storytelling skills in writing and video.
  • Ability to work quickly and handle pressure.
  • Skill in finding fresh angles on stories and generating original ideas.
  • Excellent general knowledge.
  • Good knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and TikTok.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow editor’s directions.
  • Drive, energy, and a positive attitude.

What You Will Do:

  • Produce stories for YOU magazine.
  • Work on social media platforms in various formats, including video.
  • Help the team upload content when needed.
  • Search the web for interesting stories our audiences will enjoy.
  • Assist with curating content or compiling newsletters that readers want to open.
  • Help produce and manage digital campaigns.
