Minimum Requirements

  • ABET Certificate (higher qualifications are a plus).
  • No experience needed, but 2 or more years in manual labour or grounds maintenance is helpful.
  • Knowledge of gardening tools and equipment, such as for lawn care, pruning, and trimming.
  • Understanding of how to use chemicals, including mixing and applying fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides.
  • Basic skills in maintaining equipment for best results.
  • Familiarity with tasks that support water resource management.
  • Knowledge of health and safety rules, plus garden maintenance practices.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Able to work near rivers, dams, canals, and in tight spaces.
  • Willing to help other teams or schemes when needed.
  • Must be on time, hardworking, and dependable.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Keep grounds, gardens, and nearby areas clean and maintained.
  • Fix tools, fences, benches, and small structures with hand or power tools.
  • Mix and apply fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides as required.
  • Care for plants, trees, and lawns, including raking, mulching, and watering.
  • Clean sidewalks, parking areas, fountains, and other outdoor spaces.
  • Do basic upkeep on gardening tools and report big problems for fixes.
  • Keep records like job cards, inspection notes, and repair reports up to date.
  • Check areas regularly and report issues like cracks, erosion, or standing water.
  • Follow all safety and environmental rules in your work.
