Requirements and Expectations
Minimum Requirements
- An appropriate Trade Test Certificate (Painting).
- A valid driver’s license (must be disclosed).
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS Act), Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), and Performance Management and Development System (PMDS).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Ability to carry out projects and technical work effectively.
- Computer skills in MS Word and Excel.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work alone and with a team.
- Commitment to the proper use and care of tools and materials.
- Skills to supervise and mentor team members.
- Ability to work long hours and handle pressure.
- Willingness to travel for operations and maintenance tasks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical design, production, and maintenance services for civil infrastructure, such as houses, offices, pump stations, and buildings.
- Read civil drawings and prepare work sites based on specifications.
- Complete finishing work inside and outside, including fixing, repairing, and building tasks.
- Perform painting jobs, including preparing surfaces, mixing paint, and applying it to buildings, furniture, and other structures.
- Follow the OHS Act and PFMA in all maintenance and construction activities.
- Handle administrative tasks and ensure tools and equipment are serviced, working well, and accounted for.
- Prepare and submit monthly reports on maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain high-quality work in all civil projects.
- Supervise and train technical and support staff to improve productivity and skills.
- Manage and motivate staff to build a skilled and efficient team.
- Carry out departmental construction and repair projects according to approved plans and safety rules.
