Enrolled Nursing Assistant

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4, plus an Enrolled Nursing Assistant Certificate.
  • At least 1 year of experience after training as an Enrolled Nursing Assistant.
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).

Primary Function:

  • Apply nursing procedures to manage comprehensive primary health care services. Take part in community awareness programs by providing support, sharing information, and giving demonstrations to meet national health policies and guidelines.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Talk to patients at clinics, access case files and records, and refer emergency cases to professional staff.
  • Provide basic nursing care to patients and families within the scope of practice, following ethical and legal guidelines.
  • Help with accurate data recording and control.
  • Join in delivering awareness and education programs on safe and healthy living to the community.
  • Support professional staff in treating communicable and non-communicable diseases.
  • Carry out health promotion activities for programs like immunization, chronic diseases, and oral health.
  • Handle specific administrative tasks and procedures.

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel).
  • Good communication skills.
  • Coordinating skills.
  • Time management.

Core Competencies:

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Follow Batho Pele Principles.
