Bus Driver – Passenger Jobs

Job Summary

• Unitrans is looking for professional bus drivers with proven experience. You will drive a bus to transport passengers on scheduled services over set routes. You will manage lighting, heating, and ventilation for passengers. You must follow speed limits, watch traffic, road conditions, and signals to ensure safe travel. Make sure passengers arrive on time. You need the right license and a valid PrDP.
• This is a restricted commercial contract and is not subsidized by the government.

Minimum Requirements

• Note: Only candidates with tourism experience will be considered.
• Code EC or EC1 (0,4) with valid PDP
• Grade 12
• Experience driving coaches or buses
• Touring experience is a plus
• Safety-focused with strong customer service skills
• Professional appearance and behavior
• Good communication and navigation skills
• Willing to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays
• Able to handle luggage and keep the vehicle clean
• Basic mechanical knowledge is helpful
• Willing to complete in-house training and a medical exam by the company doctor
• Punctual
• Able to stay calm under pressure

Duties & Responsibilities

• Note: Only candidates with tourism experience will be considered.
• Follow all WSWPs procedures for your tasks.
• Read, understand, and agree to the code of conduct.
• Follow Unitrans Passenger rules and regulations.
• Read and understand the driver’s manual.
• Report near misses, incidents, or property damage, even if you were not involved.
• Read and understand HST regulations and policies.
• Avoid accidents and incidents while driving as much as possible.
• Value safety and follow safe habits.
• Report any incidents or issues to management right away.
• Know all written procedures for your tasks.
• Check the bus for issues or faults before starting.
• Record any problems in the checklist and tell your supervisor.
• Based on the issue, start the trip or wait until it is fixed.
• Join DSS sessions with the supervisor and HST at Unitrans parks and Vulcan Site.
• Take part in training.
• Register passengers for the trip.
• Ensure the vehicle is fueled and clean at all times.
• Record and report all events, incidents, or accidents during the trip to your supervisor and line management.
• Follow all traffic laws.
• Stick to the company’s SMS policy.
• Complete log books correctly.
• Keep a log of activities and update hours in the log book.
• Be positive with customers.
• Do not change your route without permission or due to others.
• Stop only at approved places, unless told by a superior.
• Access only allowed areas and avoid route changes.
• Respect signs and speed limits.
• Always remove keys from ignition after parking.
• You are responsible for the ignition key while driving.
• Start the vehicle from inside the cabin.
• Block wheels with two chocks after parking.
• Use seat belts for yourself and all passengers.
• Drive with a valid license and RAC2 card.
• Take care of the vehicle and use it properly.
• Report any vehicle damage to the manager and supervisor.
• Follow pickup times on the job card.
• Do not overtake other Unitrans vehicles unless the one ahead has issues and you are allowed.
• Do not stop after dropping off passengers at the end of the trip.
