About the Position

SARS is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive person to join the Software Asset Management (SAM) team as a Junior Specialist. This role focuses on managing software assets throughout the organization. The main goals are to ensure compliance with licensing standards and regulatory requirements, and to oversee the use of cloud-based software on platforms like Azure. The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of software licensing models and software governance. They also need strong analytical skills and the ability to work well with different teams to support key IT projects. If done well, this job will help SARS get the most value from their software investments while keeping full control over their IT environment.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to manage and optimize resources, services, and infrastructure in a hybrid-cloud computing environment. This must be done in line with SARS policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

Minimum Qualification & Experience Required

Bachelor’s Degree / Advanced Diploma (NQF 7) in Information Technology / Finance, plus 5-7 years’ experience in software asset management. Of this, 2-3 years should be at a functional specialist level.

Qualifications in Azure Fundamentals, CSAM, LISA, and/or ITIL will be an added advantage.

Alternative Qualification

Senior Certificate (NQF 4), ITIL certification, plus 10 years’ experience in software asset management. Of this, 2-3 years should be at a functional specialist level.

About the Position

SARS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist in SAP Basis. This person should be results-driven, with good judgment and strong business understanding. They will help achieve our main goals and improve service delivery. The ideal candidate is innovative, with deep knowledge of new technologies and a focus on the future.

This role involves installing, configuring, upgrading, and fixing SAP systems based on specifications and business needs. You will add value to the team and organization through proactive support in daily activities. A broad knowledge of Information Technology is needed, including the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). You should understand various technologies, such as Linux operating systems (like RedHat), SAP HANA and Sybase database administration, Single Sign On, Fiori, SAP BTP, and other cloud solutions (like SuccessFactors and ARIBA).

Job Purpose

The purpose is to help clients with complex requirement analysis and system configuration, implementation, and support for SAP modules. This role uses consulting skills, business knowledge, and SAP experience to integrate SAP technology into the client’s business and achieve expected results.

You will also support cost-effective and efficient production, quality assurance, alpha, and regression test environments. This helps the organization meet its goals through SAP Basis/Core Architecture Platform Technology installation, design, implementation, and support.
