Salary:
- Remuneration and appointment will follow the Provincial Treasury Instruction Note No.6 of 2014/15 – Framework for Appointment and Remuneration of Audit Committee Members.
Overview:
- The Eastern Cape Provincial Treasury invites independent, qualified, and interested people to serve as members of its Audit Committee for three years.
Requirements:
- Be independent and knowledgeable about the role, with experience in Information Technology.
- Have experience in governance structures and time to commit to Audit Committee activities.
- Show analytical skills, good communication, and understanding of public sector regulations.
- Know about social and infrastructure issues in the public sector.
- Hold a tertiary qualification in Information Technology and 5–10 years of senior experience in public or private sectors.
- Be a member of a recognised professional body.
- Not be employed in the public sector.
Responsibilities:
- The Audit Committee advises on internal controls, risk management, and governance.
- Fulfil oversight roles under the PFMA, Treasury Regulations, and other laws.
- Follow the approved Audit Committee Charter.
- Strengthen the objectivity and credibility of financial and non-financial reporting, including Information Technology.
- Monitor the Internal Audit Unit’s performance.
- Track management’s responses to weaknesses and suggest improvements.
- Review compliance with laws and regulations.
Additional Information:
- The department will review the number of memberships to ensure focus and diversity.
- Applications from all are welcome, but preference may go to local or equity group candidates based on the Employment Equity Plan.
- Audit Committee members will undergo vetting.
- The Committee reports to the Head of Department and the Member of the Executive Council (MEC).
- There will be at least four meetings per financial year.

- Meetings may be virtual.
- Members need secure internet, their own device, and computer skills for documents and platforms.
- Members provide their own tools and pursue Continuous Professional Development.
