Professional Nurse: General – 18 Posts (5-Month Contract)

Salary:

  • Grade 1: R324 384 – R382 107 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 2: R396 132 – R466 623 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 3: R476 367 – R610 662 per annum (OSD)
  • The appropriate salary will be set based on the regulatory framework (OSD).

Requirements:

  • A Basic R425 qualification (Degree or Diploma in Nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Proof of current registration with SANC.

Experience:

  • Grade 1: No experience required.
  • Grade 2: At least 10 years of appropriate or relevant experience in nursing after SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
  • Grade 3: At least 20 years of appropriate or relevant experience in nursing after SANC registration as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.

Duties:

  • Carry out nursing duties and functions effectively, following relevant laws and departmental policies.
  • Provide and maintain a safe, supportive environment for patients.
  • Monitor patients and perform standard nursing procedures according to facility policies and clinical guidelines.
  • Use a team-based approach to deliver complete patient care.
  • Keep clinical skills up to date by applying nursing care principles properly.
  • Keep accurate and full records of patient information and documentation.
  • Ensure patients receive quality service through innovative and professional care, while following Batho Pele principles and the Patients’ Rights Charter.
  • Use resources in the unit efficiently and effectively.
  • Deliver high-quality nursing care and manage the unit when the Operational Manager is away.
  • Assess staff performance using the Employee Performance Management and Development System (EPMDS).
  • Support, guide, and train staff to help them grow professionally and improve services.
  • Manage and control scheduled drugs properly, as required by law.
  • Be ready for day and night shifts as needed for operations.
  • Handle any other tasks given by the supervisor to support services.
