Information Technology Practitioner – 4 Posts (5-Month Contract)

Position: Information Technology Practitioner – 4 posts (5-month Contract)

  • Salary: R325 101 – R382 959 per annum (Level 7)

Requirements:

  • National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Technology or Computer Science, recognized by SAQA.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in the ICT field.
  • Good technical knowledge and hands-on experience in PC and printer repairs, router setup, and LAN switching.
  • Knowledge of network protocols and Microsoft products, including Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange.
  • Skills in configuring and managing printers and multifunction devices.
  • Experience with desktop and infrastructure environments, such as servers, switches, networks, and cabling.
  • Knowledge of Exchange Server Administration, TCP/IP networking, and 802.11 wireless technologies (an advantage).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and innovative thinking skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a service-oriented approach, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Duties:

  • Repair and maintain computer equipment, including servers, PCs, and printers.
  • Install, configure, and support network servers, ICT infrastructure, and software applications.
  • Perform system assessments, prepare technical reports, and suggest improvements.
  • Provide technical and application support for ECDOH transversal systems and software.
  • Coordinate support for office automation services, such as telephone systems, copiers, faxes, and mobile devices.
  • Mentor and guide IT interns to help them grow professionally.
  • Monitor and manage local area network (LAN) performance for optimal connectivity.
  • Offer first-line technical support to users for transversal systems and network applications.
  • Keep and update incident logs using a call-logging system to resolve issues quickly.
  • Provide technical support to district health facilities on National Department of Health systems and applications.
  • Oversee and monitor district ICT projects, including information security like anti-virus and backup solutions.
  • Work with users to understand and meet their IT needs and requests.
  • Maintain an inventory of all desktop, network, and ICT-related equipment.
  • Conduct ICT awareness and training sessions to promote compliance with policies and security standards.
