Information Officer – 2 Posts (5-Month Contract)

Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate plus a National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Information Management, Public Administration, or a related qualification approved by SAQA.
  • 1–2 years of experience in information management or health information systems.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of DHIS software, Tier.Net, and EDR Web.
  • Awareness of the National Health Information Systems in South Africa (NHISSA) and District Health Management Information System (DHMIS) guidelines.
  • Good computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Skills in leadership and supervision.
  • A valid driver’s licence.

Duties

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and DORA data reports on HAST for health facilities.
  • Track and ensure timely data submission, and create data quality reports on timeliness, completeness, submission rates, and overall quality.
  • Act as a Provincial Tier Key Implementer and provide technical support for Tier.Net, including troubleshooting and working with the National Department of Health (NDoH).
  • Offer support for provincial Health Information EDRWeb, helping sites with data entry issues and system use.
  • Serve as a trainer for Tier.Net and EDR, running sessions for stakeholders on data systems and reporting.
  • Assist district and sub-district staff with data management and ETR technical issues.
  • Handle and review HAST programme data, spotting errors, missing information, or outliers, and reporting problems.
  • Help prepare facilities for audits by improving adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and data quality standards.
  • Give regular updates to districts on data analysis and progress towards goals.
  • Check Tier.Net progress every month at district and facility levels.
  • Prepare reports before submission to address data quality concerns from districts.
  • Communicate with districts and sub-districts about training plans and share feedback from provincial sessions.
  • Organise meetings and workshops to enhance data management and reporting.
