Professional Nurse: General – 18 posts (5-month contract)

Salary:

  • Grade 1: R324 384 – R382 107 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 2: R396 132 – R466 623 per annum (OSD)
  • Grade 3: R476 367 – R610 662 per annum (OSD)
  • Appropriate salary will be determined according to the regulatory framework (based on OSD).

Requirements:

  • Basic R425 qualification (Degree or Diploma in Nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • Proof of current registration with SANC.

Experience:

  • Grade 1: No experience required.
  • Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
  • Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years’ appropriate experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.

Duties:

  • Carry out nursing duties and functions effectively, following all relevant laws, policies, and department standards.
  • Provide and keep a safe, supportive environment for patients.
  • Watch over patients and do standard nursing tasks as per hospital policies and professional rules.
  • Use a team approach from different fields to give complete care to patients and clients.
  • Stay skilled in clinical work by using scientific nursing methods and proven practices.
  • Keep patient records accurate and up to date all the time.
  • Improve client satisfaction with quality service, professional behavior, and following Batho Pele principles and the Patient Rights Charter.
  • Use resources in the unit efficiently and effectively.
  • Give quality nursing care and take on management tasks for the unit when the Operational Manager is away.
  • Assess staff performance using the Employee Performance Management and Development System (EPMDS).
  • Encourage, guide, and mentor nursing staff for ongoing growth and better service.
  • Handle and control scheduled drugs according to laws and hospital rules.
  • Be ready for day and night shifts as needed.
  • Do any other tasks given by the supervisor to help with healthcare services.
