Assistant Stock Controller – Finished Goods (55215)

Job Purpose:

  • To inspect, count, record, and verify all goods received, stored, or dispatched accurately and on time. This ensures inventory accuracy, reduces errors, and keeps logistics smooth for finished goods to customers, warehouses, and third-party sites.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Cargo Verification and Documentation:

  • Record details of incoming and outgoing cargo, such as containers, pallets, or bulk goods.
  • Check the correct quantity, weight, and condition of goods.
  • Match physical cargo with records in company systems like SAP, TWMS, and Wayware.

Data Entry and Updating:

  • Enter cargo details into the system using handheld devices or computers.
  • Update the status of packed products, such as received, stored, loaded, or damaged.

Checklists and Reporting:

  • Complete digital tally sheets and inspection checklists.
  • Use manual checklists when needed.
  • Create reports on discrepancies, like short shipments, damage, or mismatches.

Coordination with Warehouse/Logistics Operations:

  • Work closely with forklift drivers, supervisors, and truck drivers to control and move inventory.
  • Serve as a contact point to ensure cargo is tracked properly in systems between warehouse and logistics teams.

Inventory Control Support:

  • Make sure stock levels are accurate across all company inventory systems.
  • Report inconsistencies for audits and reconciliations.

Compliance and Occupational Health & Safety Monitoring:

  • Ensure handling follows standard procedures and safety rules.
  • Keep the area clean and maintain food safety standards as required by the company.

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Senior Certificate / Matric

Experience:

  • 1 year of stock handling experience
  • 6 months in production would be helpful
  • Experience in an FMCG factory environment is an advantage

Skills:

  • Good computer skills
  • Knowledge of TWMS, Wayware, SAP, Microsoft Excel, and database systems
  • Skills in stock taking and reconciliation
  • Strong numerical ability
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Good communication
  • Methodical approach
  • Strong ability to follow procedures
  • Decisive and able to take action and follow through
  • Skills in monitoring and inspection
  • Coordination skills

Working Environment/Conditions:

  • Long hours, overtime, weekends, and public holidays when needed
  • Involves walking, climbing, and standing
  • 24-hour operation with rotating shifts
  • Zero tolerance for alcohol

On Offer:

  • Salary range of R75,000 to R90,000 per year total cost to company (depending on factors like current earnings)
  • Includes a 13th cheque
