Job Purpose

To perform general maintenance and repair work on roads, stormwater, and drainage systems. This includes using handheld tools and equipment to dig in specific areas, operating small plant machinery, pressure cleaning devices, and using lettering and marking guides.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Carry out general labor tasks and operate small plant and equipment during roadworks, stormwater drainage, road maintenance, road marking, and signage activities.
  • Use handheld machinery and tools to break surfaces or drill and install signage.
  • Mix and lay concrete and other materials using tools and machinery to spread, compact, and smooth surfaces.
  • Clean stormwater and drainage systems using pressure hoses and hand tools.
  • Paint directional signals, signs, and lines on road surfaces using guides or following markings.
  • Clean tools and equipment, and report any damage or defects verbally.
  • Remove blockages, debris, and unwanted vegetation from drainage systems.

Essential Requirements

  • Appropriate level of primary education.
  • Certification of competency in operating small plant and equipment.
  • 6 months of relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements

  • Appropriate level of secondary education.
  • 1 year of relevant experience.
