Job Purpose:

  • Supports and takes part in setting functional requirements. Manages professional and technical processes for providing electronic engineering services across the entire region. Aligns role boundaries and resources with short, medium, and long-term plans. Coordinates continuous improvement and research to address gaps in current practices.

Key Responsibility Areas:

  • Supports and participates in planning processes for electronic engineering priorities and needs across the region.
  • Ensures compliance with contract terms regarding quality, cost, and timing for complex electronic engineering projects in the electricity network.
  • Provides information and guidance on technical and professional aspects of managing advanced integrated systems.
  • Applies electronic engineering principles to manage the real-time operating environment, including hardware, software, networks, and related technology for computerized network information and electronic management systems across the region.
  • Interprets and applies principles for the performance of integrated network information and electronic management systems region-wide.
  • Implements strategies for operational applications like sub-station monitoring, data acquisition, control, and computerized display of electrical network layout, model, and information.
  • Shares information on technical and professional aspects of network management.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering (NQF level 8) or equivalent acceptable to the Engineering Council of South Africa for registration.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) with the Engineering Council of South Africa.
  • Valid motor vehicle driving license.
  • 5 years’ relevant post-professional registration experience in the electricity distribution or transmission industry.
