9 Temporary Seasonal General Workers: Cango Caves
Closing Date: 14 November 2025
Salary Rate: R 139.32 per hour
Requirements:
- Basic literacy skills.
- 0-1 year of relevant experience.
- Good health and sober habits.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa).
Key Performance Areas:
- Maintain cleanliness in restrooms, offices, and walking areas.
- Replace paper towels and toilet rolls, and refill soap and disinfectant containers as needed.
- Dust and wipe all furniture, window sills, and skirting boards regularly.
- Remove rubbish by picking up papers, emptying dustbins, and clearing ashtrays.
- Clean plants to keep them presentable.
- Clean floors through washing, mopping, sweeping, and polishing.
- Clean windows and glass doors both inside and outside using appropriate equipment and detergents, such as ladders and window cleaners.
- Clean toilets on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors according to the scheduled timetable.
- Sweep entrances, exits, and steps both outside and inside the cave.
- Remove all clay from steps and pathways to prevent them from becoming slippery and to avoid any potential dangers or injuries on tourist routes.
- Replace refuse bags and clean refuse bins using chemicals.
- Use chemicals to eliminate bad odours within the cave.
- Work schedule is from Monday to Sunday, as needed during the seasonal period.

Requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate (proof must be attached).
- 0-2 years of relevant experience.
- Strong financial acumen and basic understanding of money handling.
- Proficiency in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape (English, Afrikaans, isiXhosa).
Key Performance Areas:
- Act professionally at all times when interacting with visitors, providing information, selling, and issuing tickets.
- Collect money, issue tickets, and provide correct change.
- Balance and reconcile cash at the end of each day.
- Document all transactions in the deposit book and securely seal the income received.
- Handle complaints from the public and refer them to the supervisor for further action.
- File printouts and receipts issued during the day.
- Balance daily monies received, print relevant reports, and ensure they are accurate.
- Prepare and administer deposit slips, and handle the banking of funds.
- Print and bind reports of daily transactions for record-keeping.
- Guide visitors and resolve their queries by directing them to the appropriate department.
- Provide information about the establishment and available tour options.
- Record and confirm bookings over the telephone.
- Request the nationality of visitors for auditing purposes.
- Manage lost and found properties responsibly.
