Requirements

  • Matric (Grade 12) Certificate plus a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management or a related field (NQF Level 7).
  • At least 5 years of experience in middle management.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Key competencies include proven strategic planning and advanced project management skills. You must be flexible to work irregular hours and weekends, with strong coordination abilities. The role requires working well with diverse internal and external stakeholders, plus advanced computer skills in tools like Excel and PowerPoint.
  • In-depth knowledge of tourism policies and strategies. Strong understanding of the tourism value chain. Familiarity with public service regulations, including the Public Finance Management Act, and the provincial tourism landscape.

Duties

  • Serve as the Provincial Registrar with all related responsibilities. Act as the Provincial Tourism Complaints Officer, investigate complaints, and report to national authorities. Represent the province at the National Registrars Forum.
  • Manage the directorate’s finances and human resources. Lead strategic management, projects, and programs. Develop systems for registering tourist guides across all districts.
  • Ensure compliance with laws for registering tourist guides and tourism businesses.
  • Handle and resolve tourism complaints. Administer complaints in collaboration with the Director.
  • Coordinate training, capacity-building programs, workshops, and seminars for tourist guides and tour operators across the province.
  • Organize enforcement and compliance awareness inspections with various stakeholders.
