The Department of Cooperative Governance aims to create a well-coordinated system of government, including national, provincial, and local levels, all working together to achieve sustainable development and effective service delivery. All shortlisted candidates will go through a technical exercise or follow-up interviews to test job-related skills. This assessment will evaluate key competencies such as strategic leadership, people management, programme and project management, change management, financial management, knowledge management, service delivery innovation, problem-solving, client orientation, and communication skills.

The successful candidate will undergo a pre-employment screening, including checks for criminal records, credit history, citizenship, and qualification verification. The appointment will be on a 12-month probation period, and you will need to sign a performance agreement. It is your responsibility to ensure all information and supporting documents are submitted on time.

POST 39/18: SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER: SPATIAL AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT PLANNING (REF NO: SPO001)

Salary: R397 116 per annum (Level 08)

Location: Pretoria

Requirements: You need a three-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Town and Regional Planning, Social Science, Geomatics, or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 6/7, as recognized by SAQA. You should have 2-3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is essential. A valid driver’s license is required, and you must be willing to travel.

General Skills Needed: High-quality work output, taking initiative, good interpersonal relations, effective planning and execution, analytical thinking, reliability, clear communication, teamwork, conflict management, customer focus, and responsiveness.

Technical Skills Needed: Strong knowledge of town planning and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Experience in project management, research and development, computer-aided applications, legal compliance, technical report writing, and research methods.

Duties: In this role, you will support the analysis of municipal spatial planning tools, such as Municipal Spatial Development Frameworks, to guide Integrated Development Planning. You will provide general administrative support to the GIS function. Assist in developing and maintaining the Integrated Development Planning Information Management System (IDPIMS). Offer administrative support for implementing the Smart Cities framework and Small-Town Regeneration Strategy. You will also handle secretariat duties for existing forums and project steering committees on various projects.

Requirements: You need a three-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Archives and Records Management, Information Science, or an equivalent qualification at NQF level 6/7, as recognized by SAQA. You should have 2-3 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is essential.

Salary: R163 680 per annum (Level 03)

Location: Pretoria

Requirements: You need a Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent qualification. No prior experience is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is essential.

General Skills Needed: High-quality work output, taking initiative, good interpersonal relations, effective planning and execution, reliability, clear verbal and written communication, and teamwork.

Technical Skills Needed: In-depth knowledge of registry procedure manuals, operating high-volume copy and scanning equipment, intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite, and familiarity with courier services.

Duties: You will disassemble and prepare documents for scanning according to standard operating procedures, scan and index documents, and export them to the electronic records management system. Maintain quality controls to ensure accurate digitized documents. Re-assemble and organize documents back to their original state after scanning for physical filing. Assist in providing general registry services in the Department.
