General Worker

• Job Type: Full Time

Requirements

• Grade 12 certificate (Std 10) or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of experience as a general worker in nature conservation, including alien clearing, integrated fire management (such as fire suppression and law enforcement).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Basic knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
• Physically fit.
• Basic knowledge of general maintenance and inspection.
• Good hygiene practices.
• Knowledge of laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards relevant to the field.
• Knowledge of First Aid.
• Provide own transport to and from the workplace.
• Available to perform standby duties on weekends and public holidays.

Additional Requirements

• Competencies in using chainsaw and brush cutter.
• Experience with machinery and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic conservation duties, including implementing programs for invasive plant and animal control, natural soil erosion prevention, and rehabilitation.
• Handle fire protection tasks, such as wildfire suppression, prescribed burns, and preparing fire breaks.
• Maintain infrastructure, including buildings, roads, hiking trails, day walks, footpaths, gardens, tourism facilities, and signage.
• Carry out general maintenance and upkeep of terrain, gardens, staff villages, and more.
• Perform general forestry duties.
