Debtors Clerk
Job Description
Purpose: To provide clerical and administrative support for customer accounts. Prepare and deliver accurate information on all related documentation.
Key Performance Areas: Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Capturing daily banking transactions.
- Processing claims for credit notes.
- Preparing documentation to block or unblock customer accounts and sales orders.
- Invoicing, posting, and sending all local and export invoices.
- Handling customer queries.
- Following up on customer payments.
- Maintaining open communication and liaising with internal and external customers, as well as the sales team.
- Ensuring accuracy in all work.
- Managing the filing system.
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes: The ideal candidate will have:
- Grade 12 qualification, including Mathematics and Accounting.
- At least 3 years of experience in a debtors environment.
- Advanced computer literacy, such as creating and editing MS Excel spreadsheets with formulas, and typing and editing MS Word documents.
- Experience dealing with export debtors (advantageous).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent telephone etiquette.
- Good numerical ability, analytical skills, and problem-solving capabilities. High accuracy with strong attention to detail.
- A solid understanding of key business processes and practices.
- A methodical and meticulous approach to work.
- Ability to work as a team player, be responsive and tenacious, and function independently.

Position: Skipper
Reporting to: FAS Fleet Manager
Purpose: To oversee the operation of the fishing vessel, ensuring the safety of the crew, managing fishing activities, and navigating the vessel to optimal fishing grounds.
Key Performance Areas:
Safety and Compliance with Legal Authorities:
- Total compliance with safe manning, all SAMSA, Maritime OSH, and Class regulations and requirements.
- Adherence to company watch-keeping procedures.
- Legal compliance with fishing regulations and permit conditions.
Vessel Operations and Equipment Maintenance:
- Ensure all machinery and equipment are maintained and kept in good working condition for continuous and effective operations.
Fishing Performance:
- Care and maintenance of fishing gear and equipment.
- Practicing due care when fishing on hazardous grounds.
- Meeting defined fishing and production targets.
Quality and Cost Control:
- Maintaining defined quality standards.
- Operating the vessel within allocated budgets.
Crew Management and Transfer of Skills:

Qualifications and Competencies:
- Fisherman Grade 2 or Skipper Fishing >24m (Limited Waters) certification.
- Valid SAMSA Medical Certificate (unrestricted).
- Valid STCW documentation.
- Proven track record in Hake Bottom Trawling fishing ability.
- Experience as a Freezer Trawler Skipper.
- Strong personnel management and safety awareness.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Ability to follow company instructions and procedures.
- Strong motivation skills.
