The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) handles the registration of companies, co-operatives, and intellectual property rights, such as trade marks, patents, designs, and copyright. It also maintains these registrations, discloses information from its business registers, and promotes education and awareness about company and intellectual property law.

CIPC, a member of the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (dtic), is committed to youth skills development. We provide graduates with opportunities to gain work experience that complements their studies. We invite applications for our Internship Programme, which will run for 24 months. Interns will be based at our Sunnyside Office in Pretoria.

What is an Internship?

As approved by Cabinet in December 2002, this is a public service graduate work experience programme for unemployed graduates. It offers students the chance to gain workplace experience and practice the skills they have studied and will use in their future careers.

Who Can Benefit from the Programme?

  • Unemployed South African graduates from higher education institutions who have completed their degrees or diplomas.
  • Unemployed graduates with no prior work experience.
  • Unemployed graduates who have never participated in an internship programme before.
  • Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old.

Remuneration

  • Interns will receive a stipend of R12,000 per month.
  • Successful applicants will need to sign a Graduate Internship Programme Agreement.
