Deputy Director: Forest Resource Protection (2 Positions)

Position Details

Salary: R1,059,105 per annum (All-inclusive package)

Locations: Eastern Cape & KwaZulu-Natal (Phuthaditjhaba)

Employment Type: Full Time

Experience: 5 years (3 at managerial level)

Minimum Requirements

  • National Diploma (NQ6) in Forestry/Natural Resources or equivalent
  • 5 years’ experience in forestry/environmental management
  • 3 years’ experience at Assistant Director level or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of:
    • National Forests Act (84 of 1998)
    • National Veld & Forest Fires Act (101 of 1998)
    • PFMA and Treasury Regulations
  • Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor forestry legislation compliance programs
  • Develop policy frameworks and enforcement strategies
  • Manage intergovernmental collaboration on forest protection
  • Oversee fire prevention initiatives and protection associations
  • Coordinate training for law enforcement agencies and stakeholders
  • Conduct field assessments and data analysis
