Deputy Director: Greening and Livelihoods Implementation Support (3 Positions)

Organization: Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE)

Mandate: Protecting and managing South Africa’s natural resources under constitutional environmental rights (Section 24 of RSA Constitution, 1996)

Position Details

  • ๐ŸŒ Locations: Eastern Cape, Free State (Bloemfontein), Limpopo (Polokwane)
  • ๐Ÿ’ผ Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
  • ๐Ÿ“œ Qualification: National Diploma (NQ6) in Forestry/Development Studies or equivalent
  • โณ Experience: 5 years (including 3 years at junior management level)
  • ๐Ÿ’ฐ Salary: R1,059,105 per annum (all-inclusive package)

Key Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with travel readiness
  • Expertise in National Forests Act and Forest Fire Act
  • Proven project management and strategic planning skills
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capabilities
  • Financial and team management experience

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead forestry sector development programs
  • Implement national greening initiatives (Ten Million Trees project)
  • Coordinate environmental awareness campaigns
  • Manage government-NGO-community partnerships
  • Integrate forestry plans with regional development strategies
  • Oversee state nursery operations
