Mandate: Protecting and managing South Africa’s natural resources under constitutional environmental rights (Section 24 of RSA Constitution, 1996)
Position Details
- ๐ Locations: Eastern Cape, Free State (Bloemfontein), Limpopo (Polokwane)
- ๐ผ Job Type: Full-Time Permanent
- ๐ Qualification: National Diploma (NQ6) in Forestry/Development Studies or equivalent
- โณ Experience: 5 years (including 3 years at junior management level)
- ๐ฐ Salary: R1,059,105 per annum (all-inclusive package)
Key Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with travel readiness
- Expertise in National Forests Act and Forest Fire Act
- Proven project management and strategic planning skills
- Strong stakeholder engagement capabilities
- Financial and team management experience
Core Responsibilities
- Lead forestry sector development programs
- Implement national greening initiatives (Ten Million Trees project)
- Coordinate environmental awareness campaigns
- Manage government-NGO-community partnerships
- Integrate forestry plans with regional development strategies
- Oversee state nursery operations
