Position Overview

We seek a qualified Researcher to manage our Range Forage Herbarium collections and conduct field-based botanical research. This role involves specimen curation, student mentorship, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand herbarium collections using BRAHMS platforms
  • Conduct field research in diverse South African ecosystems
  • Supervise postgraduate students (MSc/PhD level)
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals
  • Develop research proposals and secure funding
  • Ensure compliance with botanical nomenclature standards

Essential Qualifications

  • Doctorate in relevant botanical discipline
  • Minimum 3 peer-reviewed publications
  • Proven experience in herbarium management
  • Strong knowledge of Southern African flora
  • Valid driver’s license (Code 8/10)
  • Demonstrated success in research funding acquisition
