Senior Occupational Health and Safety Officer (OHS)

Department of Water and Sanitation – Bloemfontein, Free State

Employment Type: Full Time

Minimum Qualification: NQF Level 6 in Health & Safety

Experience Required: 3-4 years in OHS Environment

Driver’s License: Valid, unexpired license required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and monitor workplace safety programs
  • Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments
  • Coordinate emergency evacuation drills
  • Manage incident reporting and preliminary investigations
  • Ensure compliance with OHS Act (85/1993) and COID Act (30/1993)
  • Facilitate OHS Committee operations and employee training
  • Prepare detailed safety reports and maintain compliance records

Required Competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge of occupational health regulations
  • Experience in safety audits and compliance monitoring
  • Strong organizational and reporting skills
  • Effective communication for staff training and advisories
