About JICS:
The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services (JICS) serves as an independent oversight body monitoring correctional facility operations and protecting the rights of incarcerated persons. We operate under the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee and Minister of Correctional Services.
Position Requirements:
- Grade 12/Senior Certificate Essential
- Computer literacy with good accuracy
- Nomination recommendation from community organization (issued within last 6 months)
- Strong communication skills (verbal & written)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Knowledge of Batho Pele principles
- Valid driver’s license (advantageous)
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct facility inspections and urgent matter reporting
- Interview inmates and staff regarding complaints
- Maintain comprehensive case file system
- Monitor complaint resolution timelines
- Produce monthly analytical reports
- Manage data capture of complaints/requests
